The neurotropic virus from the family of rabies viruses, genus of forest viruses is a rabies activator. It contains one-thread RNA and is surrounded with a cover, has a ball-like form.
The damage of a skin because of stings, scratches is a basic way of penetration of a rabies virus to an organism. Nevertheless it is established, that the virus can get through safe mucous membranes, very seldom, but possible the infection can get by oral and aerogene way.
The rabies virus is very unstable in environment. Direct solar rays inactivate it quickly. Under the influence of ultra-violet rays, the activator loses the virulence in 5 minutes. It is also unstable to the heat, and at boiling it perishes instantly, at 60 C – after 5-10 minutes, on the contrary, its low temperatures preserve a virus.
For example, at temperature-20 0С-40 0 C the virus is viable for a few years. It remains in saliva about a day. The virus is resistant to rotting and the decomposition, therefore not cleaned corpses of animals who were lost from rabies, are dangerous during several months, especially during a cold time of year.
Among disinfectants lixivium and acids are the most effective against the virus. |
