RABISTAR

Product name

 

Liquid Inactivated Rabies Vaccine for Animals' Immunization “RabiStar”.

 

Composition

 

One dose (1 ml) contains a rabies virus inactivated by propyolactone from G52 Wistar strain with potency not less than 1 IU, and aluminium hydroxide as adjuvant.

Pharmaceutical form

Suspension for injections of light white color with grayish-white residue at the bottom that can be easily broken up at shaking.

Immunological action

The vaccine virus is perceived by the animals' organism as a foreign agent, and activates the immune system to produce the virus neutralizing antibodies.

Animal species

Carnivores, horses and ruminants.

Indications for use

The vaccine is used for prophylactic and forced vaccination of animals against rabies.

Side effect

Anaphylactic (hypersensitive) reaction can occur, and in such case symptomatic treatment should be assigned. Formation of a small nodule from 2 to 3 cm at the injection site is possible, that can be observed within 10-15 days.

Contraindications

Do not vaccinate clinically unhealthy animals.

Administration during pregnancy and lactation period

Without limitations.

Interaction with other drugs and other forms of interaction

It is not recommended to apply another vaccine before and after 14 days of vaccination with “RabiStar”. Do not mix with another vaccines or immunological products.

Dosage and administration method for animals of different age

The vaccine is administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously in a 1 cm? dose.

Remark:

- for carnivores, horses, ruminants – depending on the epizooitic situation or state legislation is possible an annual revaccination.

Special cautions at administration

  • horses should be vaccinated only by intramuscular route;

  • shake the vaccine thoroughly before use and reduce the product temperature to a room temperature +15+25?C.

Special cautions for staff and service personnel administrating the vaccine:

- only veterinary medicine specialists may define the vaccination schedule and introduce the vaccine;

- personnel working with the product should follow the general hygiene and safety regulations accepted at veterinary products use.

Presentation

Vials or ampoules in 1,0 cm?; 2,0 cm?; 3,0 cm?; 5,0 cm?; 6,0 cm?; 10,0 cm?.

Storage conditions

In light protected place, at temperature +2?C +8°C. Do not freeze.

Shelf-life

24 months. Can be used after the first opening during 20 days on condition that the aseptic requirements and temperature regime of storage +2?C +8°C are met.

Special safety measures during handling with unused product:

The remains should be neutralized by boiling during 30 minutes or by autoclaving at 120°C during 45-60 minutes.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  1. It is recommended not earlier than 2 week before the vaccination to do the antiparasitic treatment of animals.

  2. After vaccination, not earlier than 14 days before, it is recommended to conduct a serological blood testing for the antibody titre availability.
